Dorchester ETU Events Days
Dorchester ETU students participated in our annual Actions and Choices Day, Footy Colours Day, International Womens Day, Actions, Service Providers Day, Christmas celebrations and Choices Day.
These aligns with our "Elements of Learning and Achievement" Framework that promotes pro–social behaviours, positive relationships, and links directly to our school's values of Responsible, Respectful and Safe learners.
Dorchester ETU held a school wide event to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention through R U OK? Day. The day consisted of a rotation through a number of activities for the Whitten, Slattery and Warby students. The library learning space hosted a number of guests from Headspace Campbelltown and Bondi Junction who discussed Mental Health First Aid and recognising stress. Slattery school hosted a Stretching and Meditation Session
McGrath Day was held on the 29th of November 2018. Student focus revolved around project based learning principles and how students could become "Global Citizens" by giving to the community. The Warby boys decided to contribute to the McGrath Foundation via the Shop Pink section on their website to buy a Pink Stumps Day Kit and donate that kit to a local primary school. Whitten students raised money through baking muffins and cookies, raising over $300.
Dorchester ETU in conjunction with Reiby Juvenile Justice hosted a school–wide and centre–wide celebration of International Women's Day. The day included activities around strong women, both celebrities and within communities. Students and staff alike reflected on what it means to be a strong woman and the women before us who have made it possible and fought for the opportunities and rights, many of which are now taken for granted.
Students were very excited for the Christmas Day celebrations this year. There were multiple activities planned for the day. Christmas Day activities included: Santa limbo, Dress up Santa's and timed present unwrapping. During the middle session of the day, we had guests join us for the assembly. A group of students performed a nativity scene with a twist, we sang carols and students were presented with their awards for the year
