Working with the Community

Aboriginal Artist Workshop Initiative

Art Gallery of NSW supports Dorchester ETU with visiting Professional Indigenous Artist workshops. Dorchester students have the opportunity to visit the gallery for guided tours, behind the scenes look at the workings of the gallery as well as the gallery organising studio visits of prominent Professional Artist studios. The Art Gallery of NSW runs professional development for teaching staff from Dorchester ETU and other community care schools.

The Reiby Aboriginal Education Committee (RACCC) provided a foundation to strengthen and establish relationships with Community. The success of the forum could be seen as new and established service providers came into the school to provide a variety of workshop celebrating Aboriginal culture ranging from leadership, family, identity, mentoring, weaving, dance, music and food.
